Pirii Pimentel Rodrigues (1998) is a multidisciplinary Portuguese artist based in Lucerne. Her work merges music, dance, visual arts, and theater, with the cello as her primary instrument of expression. However, her artistic universe extends far beyond sound—she is also deeply engaged in photography, capturing striking portraits of fellow artists and landscapes, as well as drawing and tattooing, using the body as a living canvas for her creativity.

She studied Cello Performance with a focus on Orchestra and Pedagogy at HFMT Köln and completed her Master’s degree in Contemporary Music Interpretation and Improvisation at HSLU – Musik in 2024. In 2022, a series of transformative experiences reshaped her relationship with the cello, pushing her to explore new sonic possibilities and incorporate the body as a central element in her artistic practice.

In recent years, Pirii has been actively involved in various educational projects through the Musikvermittlung program of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester. Alongside she also teaches cello and music in Switzerland, sharing her passion with students of different ages and backgrounds.

This search for new forms of expression has led her to collaborate with dancers and multidisciplinary artists, expanding her artistic reach through projects such as ONO Trio, Duo_tus, Crumbles Ensemble, CROL, and ZÕN. Through these projects, she explores a vast musical spectrum—ranging from contemporary and classical music to improvisation and performances for children—while challenging the boundaries between sound, movement, and audience interaction.

For as long as I can remember, I have always had the desire to freeze certain moments, to keep fragments of time that would otherwise be lost. Photography holds this magic and power—the ability to eternalize moments that move us, glances that tell stories, and landscapes that transport us to other worlds. I have always loved taking photos, whether of landscapes that make me feel small before their vastness, people who carry entire universes within them, or artists fully immersed in their craft.

To me, photography is not just a record, but a way of feeling and revealing what words cannot always express. Below, you can see some photographs of my favorite moments I have captured.
